This is a really short post – I actually wasn’t planning on doing a blog post on this – it is a very spontaneous step.
How often do we search for light, light as guidance, light at the end of the tunnel, light in the form of answers to our questions, light amidst times of darkness just when we need some clarity.
I’ve been reading this dua for a while now, and after consulting my local Mufti Sahab, this dua is one that Nabi SAWS used to read while leaving for Fajr Salah. Nabi SAWS used to read the 2 sunnah rakahs of fajr at home, before going to the masjid.
Consequently, the recommendation is to read this at any point during the morning.
I have been doing this for a while now, and it really just starts you in such a good place for the rest of the day.
I remember Rumena 101 (some of you may have heard of her as a blogger) said many years ago in a Q&A on YouTube when someone asked her about the secret to good skin, that you need to pray. Ask for it. I wouldn’t be lying if I said that I really do feel like my skin looks so much brighter and fresher – even my Mum agrees!
Read it with tawakkul, that Allah will grant you noor in everything you do. Light, brightness, you will excel and shine, nothing will seem dim or difficult.
I have written up the dua that I listen to in the attached PDF at the bottom of this post, and attached the YouTube link too. I have added it into my morning playlist – I really can’t start my day without it. Print it out, stick it in your room, next to your mirror or wherever you want.
As well as this, I used to have the aayah from Surah Noor and the dua for when looking in the mirror too (both as below) printed and stuck on my mirror – every time you look in the mirror, you get into the habit of reading the duas:

Allah didn’t give us these blessings to just read in books. We need to actually make a conscious effort to act upon these steps.
Start it, make the intention, print and stick and within a month or so, it will become second nature.
- Dua e Noor
- Aayat e Noor
- Dua when looking in the mirror
All the face creams and toners and serums are on one hand – how much are we asking Allah for barakah. Allah is part of everything we do, not just when we pray. Let’s make a conscious effort, even with things as simple as skincare! Allah was the one to put shifa in the leaf that Musa AS ate when he had pain in his stomach. When Musa AS ate the leaf the next time without asking Allah for guidance, his pain was not relieved. What’s the moral behind this – Allah gives the shifa, it’s not the product itself.
Although skincare isn’t curing an illness, it is an action with an impact. You need the impact, and that comes from Allah.
Try it, give it a few months, watch how clear your skin is ! And not just your skin, but so many aspects of your life will just open up!
May Allah fill our lives with noor in every way, Aameen ♥
