Taraweeh Table

Taraweeh Table

DISCLOSURE – I am aware of the differences of opinion surrounding Taraweeh during Ramadan – I personally read 20 rakahs but please take this as you see fit.

Short post today, but I wanted to share this resource that I have used for quite a few years now, and have shared with my friends and family too!

Something that we associate so closely with Ramadan, is staying up late and reading Taraweeh – the memories of us as a family reading, always having some fruit beside me for between rakahs (!), the post Tarweeh snoozes just before sehri – it’s all so fond and special!

I used to find it so hard remembering which rakah I was on, and just couldn’t keep track. So I used to resort to scrap bits of paper and tally charts. But then I wanted something more sustainable, to last me the whole month.

To this end, I quickly made myself a Taraweeh table which made it so much easier to tally and keep track of my rakahs!

I then took it a step further and put the Surahs I wanted to read in it. This can be completely edited to the Surahs you know – I have just put the last few from the 30th Juz in order, but sometimes I change it up too! It’s a good way to improve your memorisation, or even rukus of some larger surahs.

How do you use the Taraweeh table?

After every block or 4 or 2 or 3 rakahs, put a tally line to show you’ve read it. By the end of the day you’ll have a tally line in every box, and by the end of your 30 days, you’ll have 6 lots of 5 tallies (or however many days you read).

Between each group of 4 rakahs (the thick black lines), I do 2 things – read the Taraweeh dua (English and Urdu Translation below) and a tasbih. I have these duas printed on card and next to me in my Taraweeh pack! The meaning of this dua is extremely beautiful MashAllah.

For my tasbihs, I change it up with different duas after every 4 rakahs – some examples are below but you can read any duas:

  • First Kalima
  • Durood Sharif
  • Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee
  • Rabbanaa aatinaa fid dunya hasanah, wa fil aakhirati hasanah, waqinaa ‘adhaaban-naar
  • Astaghfirullah rabbi min kulli zambiyon wa atoobu ilaiyh
  • Rabbir Hum Huma Kama Rabba Yaani Sagheera

Standing and spending some time in front of Allah during the nights of Ramadan, after fasting during the day, with full imaan and the intention of gaining reward is part of the essence of Ramadan, and sometimes that special time at night between you and Allah makes all the difference!

Below I’ve attached my colour version, a blank version for you to print and handwrite, and a Powerpoint version for you to download and personalise!

Feel free to customise, print and please send me pictures ! I’d love to see your versions!

May Allah allow us to reach Ramadan, and accept all our ibadah for the sake of His pleasure, Aameen ♥
